The Center for Knowledge Management (CKM) offers consultations and training services to support patient care, research, education, and hospital administration for the VU/VUMC communities. Consultations may include ongoing in-depth assistance based on users' specific needs. Training is available for individuals and groups for selected topics. Links to virtual asynchronous training are available when offered. Virtual synchronous training can, in some instances, be requested for individuals and groups by completing an online request form. Additionally, questions can be sent to the contact person(s) listed.

Consultation on the use of a decision-support tool for researchers and prospective authors to facilitate the selection of publication venues and the critical evaluation of scholarly journals and preprint services, including guidance on developing researcher ORCID and SciENcv profiles
Through this service embedded in the electronic health record, VUMC clinicians can submit requests for expertly researched, synthesized, tailored evidence in response to complex, multi-faceted, patient-specific queries
Critical Appraisal of the Biomedical Literature and Evidence Services
Provides in-depth practical understanding of how best to apply evidence-based approaches to complex clinical questions
Consultation to guide the step-by-step process of conducting a systematic review (SR) and assistance differentiating the appropriateness of undertaking a true SR vs other types of review studies
Provides in-depth practical understanding of how best to apply evidence-based approaches to complex oncology questions provided by the tumor board team
Biochemical and Genetic Evidence Services
From information about variants of unknown significance to curated evidence packets of the relationships between genetic mutations, proteins and disease/condition/pharmacological response, our evidence services support patient care, research, education, and healthcare administration.

Instruction on establishing and populating an ORCiD profile as a unique identifier for authors and grant writers
SciENcv (Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae)
CKM offers self-paced instruction on using the freely accessible SciENcv application to help researchers create an online profile that is formatted to meet National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) and other government agencies’ requirements for grant submission and grant annual reports

Consultation and training to address health and/or genetic literacy, especially as it relates to patient care
Consultation to guide the development of easy-to-read and understand informed consent documents; patient-specific consent documents may require additional consultation with the CKM health and genetic literacy team
Social & Behavioral Determinants of Health
Consultation on the use and evaluation of measures to capture social & behavioral determinants of health and identifying community agencies that address social needs.
Consultation and development of in-house tools, applications, and websites.
No charge for up to 16 hours of consultation and training. For more advanced training, or our help with specific projects, contracts, or grant participation and/or consultation, the fee is $55/hour.
