Ability to cast aside prejudices and hear and interpret messages clearly and with minimal bias. The ability to listen, identify the key points, synthesize the information in order to capture and "display" in effective, meaningful, useful way Type of Listening General Purpose: Transactional listening = Learning new information Interactional listening = Recognizing personal component of message Critical listening = Evaluating reasoning and evidence Recreational listening = Appreciating random or integrated aspects of event
